How to find your Google Place ID
A Place ID is a text identifier that Google uses for a place on its map. For a review link, it tells Google which business's review box to open.
Steps
- Open Google's Place ID Finder. It is a demo page in Google's Maps Platform documentation.
- In the search box on the map, type your business name and city, then choose your business from the list.
- A marker appears with a small box showing the name, address and Place ID. Copy the Place ID. It is a long string that usually starts with
ChIJ. - Paste it into the generator.
Check you have the right place
- Compare the name and address in the box with your listing.
- If your business has a duplicate or old listing, make sure you picked the one customers use.
- Open the finished review link on a phone to confirm.
Troubleshooting
- The page doesn't load or shows an error. Google's demo may change or be limited. Try the other way instead: copy the link from your Business Profile.
- Several results. Search by street address to narrow it down.
